ECOTEL® GSM Gateways
ECOTEL® GSM gateways are used to set up cost-effective connections between mobile radio networks and the digital fixed network (ISDN/PSTN), analog fixed network (POTS) or voice over IP (VoIP). The main applications of GSM gateways are in reducing connection costs based on least cost routing (LCR) and providing last mile connections via GSM (wireless local loop, WLL).
GSM gateways reduce connection costs (least cost routing)
GSM gateways establish connections with GSM networks via integrated mobile radio modules. These integrated mobile radio modules are the same type of modules that are used in everyday mobile phones. Calls from mobile to mobile via the GSM gateway cost less than calls from the fixed network to a mobile.
GSM gateways bridge the last mile via mobile radio
ECOTEL® GSM gateways are very useful as last mile solutions in mobile offices, service vehicles and weekend homes as well as on construction sites and inland water vessels. An ECOTEL® GSM gateway allows connection of analog telephones, complete PBXs, fax machines and Internet PCs at locations without fixed network access.
